And Atiya Khan's take on fashion is as unique as it gets. Though many designers before
her have dabbled in islamic fashion, they have done so exclusively to clear to a middle
eastern clientele - rarely have their designer for the more conservative market been
used in their campaigns which have catered to liberal women. Atiya dares to dabble in
islamic fashion, but as a way to question cultural norms and the perception of women.
For Atiya, the imagery of this shoot embodies strength, ''the veil styled right can make
a women look like a PLO leader'' and not repression as the niqab is thought to embody.
Also, Atiya designs separates - you can get a sexy halter and buy a long flowing jacket
to go with it so you can be covered if need be. in a society and culture such as ours,
a women has many identities and many dressing needs - a different one for each
occasion, one for the street another for the home.
Atiya Khan aims to come up with clothes that fit them all, intelligently and always
